Gagandip Singh, 21, the president of the British Sikh Student Federation and one of the owners of Sikh TV, a fledgling broadcaster, was said to be a leading light in the Sikh community and a "politician in the making".

Neighbors have linked Mr Singh's death to the murder of his father, Charanjit Singh, who died in a contract killing in India two years ago, although police are understood to doubt this is the case.

Two teenagers, a man and a woman both aged 19, have been arrested. They are understood not to be related to Mr Singh nor each other.
The body of the Mr Singh, who was keen on karate and football, was found shortly after 2am on Saturday morning.

It was found in the boot of his sister's blue Mercedes C-class car which was burning when police found it on a quiet lane off a dual carriageway on the edge of Greenwich Park in south east London. Mr Singh had borrowed the car earlier after his white BMW got a flat tyre.

Mr Singh suffered severe head injuries but do not know what caused his death. Post mortem results on his remains proved inconclusive and detectives are awaiting the outcome of further tests. Police have yet to determine whether he was still alive when the car was set on fire.
Mr Singh's mother, Tajinder, 44, was briefly admitted to hospital due to her reaction at the news. She and Mr Singh's sister Amandeep, 19, were too upset to speak at their cream-coloured home in Bexleyheath yesterday. The young man is understood to have been in the process of arranging a marriage for his sister.

A family friend, who did not wish to be named, said: "This was brutal. Absolutely brutal, the way he was killed. To be put in a boot and it to be set on fire is terrifying and horrific.

"Since the killing of his father the family have had CCTV put around the house and they were worried about security.

"Gagandip was very influential and very prominent in the Sikh community. When his father died he had to pick everything up. Maybe he was killed because he was so successful, out of jealousy or spite, but he was really well respected in the community.

"The entire family is 110 per cent distraught. Now she has to deal with the death of her son as well. It is terrible."

He added: "Gagandip was a leader of the community and a politician in the making. He was an incredibly influential young man. The company employed more than 200 people and he would always say to me when he was recruiting about how happy that made him."

Another said: "He was very religious. He didn't smoke, he didn't drink. He was a very kind man, very generous and very devoted to his family."
Charanjit Singh was shot in the head outside a hotel in the Punjab region in 2009. Police in India believe that the wealthy businessman was the victim of a contract killing after he had travelled to the subcontinent for a wedding.

While there, he had asked for the return of £46,000 which he had loaned another man, named in India as Kamal Kumar, in a property deal struck in England. In fact Kumar had registered all the Indian property in his own name, it was said. Five people are currently due to stand trial for the murder.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "At around 2am on Saturday officers on patrol came across a vehicle on fire in Angerstein Lane, Blackheath.

"The fire brigade attended and extinguished the fire and subsequently the body of a man was found in the boot of the car.

"A 19 year old woman and a 19 year old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody."

Det Ch Insp Damian Allain, who is leading the investigation, appealed for witnesses to come forward, adding: "We don't believe that this was a random killing, and are exploring the line of enquiry that this was a targeted attack against our victim."

In court, the girlfriend who 'lured Sikh TV chief to his death'
    By NICK FAGGE
Last updated at 12:03 AM on 1st March 2011

A teenage girl has been charged with the murder of her wealthy TV executive boyfriend in a suspected love triangle.

Mundill Kaur Mahil, 19, appeared in court yesterday after Gagandip Singh’s battered body was discovered in the boot of his burnt-out car.

She is alleged to have lured the owner of satellite channel Sikh TV to Brighton where he was killed.

His body was bundled into the boot of the C-class Mercedes Benz which was driven to London and set ablaze in a muddy suburban lane.

Mr Singh, 21, of Bexleyheath, South-East London, had suffered severe head injuries, a post-mortem examination revealed yesterday.

The fire was discovered in the early hours of last Saturday by a passing police patrol.

Mahil, from Chatham, Kent, is a medical student at Brighton University and had allegedly started a relationship with another man.

She clutched a sleeve of her cream cardigan and held it to her mouth as she was led before magistrates yesterday.

At the hearing in Greenwich, she also wore tight black trousers and a fitted green sweater.

The student is accused with Harvinder Singh Shoker, 19, who stared at her as he was led into the dock and told to sit down. Only a prison guard separated them.

Shoker, from Charlton, South-East London, had a bright orange turban, wore a white sweatshirt and jeans, and spoke only to confirm his name.

District Judge Fiona Barrie remanded them in custody until further hearings at the Old Bailey. Members of the entrepreneur’s grieving family watched from the public gallery.

It is the second brutal death to afflict them.

Gagandip’s father Charanjit Singh was shot in an apparent contract killing in India in 2009 over a business deal. Five people are due to stand trial in India for his murder.

Gagandip had become head of the family and had been arranging his sister’s marriage.

Last night his family paid tribute in a statement saying: ‘Gagandip was a humble young man who valued a religion that promotes peace and spiritual service.

‘Embracing both religion and Western culture, Gagandip was known as a young entrepreneur and had taken the leading role of his family business since the tragic death of his father.’

A close friend added: ‘This was brutal. Absolutely brutal, the way he was killed. The entire family is distraught.

‘He was very influential and very prominent in the Sikh community. When his father died, he had to pick everything up.

‘His mother has to deal with the death of her son as well.’

Yesterday two bunches of flowers were left as a tribute where Mr Singh’s body was found in Blackheath, South-East London.

Last night, police arrested another 19-year-old man in connection with his death.

Forensic officers were continuing to search Mahil’s three-storey terraced home in Brighton, which she shared with five other medical students.

As not to reiterate the same information, I've taken out snippets from the following news report from the London Evening Standard.

Mr Singh's body was discovered inside a blue Mercedes after patrolling officers came across the burning car in a side street in Blackheath on Saturday. He had suffered severe head injuries. Police believe he was battered to death in Brighton and his body driven to London before being dumped in Angerstein Lane.

Friends of Gagandip Singh, who was also managing director of a recruitment firm, Superior Service, described him as "a politician in the making". He was described as being well respected in the Sikh community.

A friend said the TV executive's family was devastated by his death, and his mother Tajinder, who suffers from heart problems and diabetes, was taken to hospital by ambulance on Saturday night.

Mr Singh is believed to have abandoned his white BMW in Croydon with a flat tyre before borrowing his sister's Mercedes on Friday.

Scotland Yard is appealing for witnesses who may have noticed the movements of the vehicle.

Friends claimed that Mr Singh had given Mahil £12,000 for university fees.A friend further claimed that Mr Singh went to school with Shoker and they became close after Mr Singh's father was killed. The friend added: "He gave him £2,500 and a job with Sikh TV."

A THIRD teenager has been arrested in connection with the murder of Gagandip Singh.

The 19-year-old was arrested today (February 28) and remains in custody.

Mr Singh of Langdale Crescent,Bexleyheath, was found in the boot of a blue Mercedes C-class in Angerstein Lane, Blackheath, at around 2am on Saturday morning.

Two other people Harvinder Singh Shoker, aged 19, of Charlton Park Lane, Charlton, and 19-year-old Mundill Mahil, of Regent Guest House, Maidstone Road, Chatham, have been charged with Mr Singh’s murder.

They appeared at Greenwich Magistrates Court today (February 28) and will next appear at the Old Bailey for a plea and case management hearing on June 6.

Mr Singh’s family will hold a candlelit vigil tonight (February 28) at the scene where the burnt car and his body were found.

Mr Singh’s father, Charanjit, was shot dead in India during an alleged contract killing on September 28 2009.

The 42-year-old businessman, who ran an employment agency in Plumstead High Street, was in the Indian state of Punjab for a wedding when he was shot in the head outside a hotel.

According to reports, Indian police believe Mr Singh was shot by a contract killer, after he asked an associate, named in India as Kamal Kumar, to repay money Mr Singh had given him.

It is thought while Kumar was in England, Mr Singh gave him 3.5m rupees (£46,000) to buy some property for him in Punjab.

According to reports in India, Kumar used the cash to buy four plots of land, but registered them in the names of his own family.

Four people are set to stand trial in India over the killing.

I don't want to go OTT on this, but there is a plethora of information on the net about the people involved in this case, (outside to the actual news reports).

    Deleted personal information

A companies house search on this business, (Regent Guest House), reveals annual reports, directors names, even a company website. http://www.regentguesthouse.com/index.php

A social network search reveals photo's of the charged, (all publicly viewable information), friends, birthdays, events attended...even my 8 year old nephew shares a photo with the accused.

Personal and corporate information including a url to the management of the living arrangements of one of the accused has been removed.

It's just scary the amount of sensitive data people throw onto the net about themselves. Then why are you re-printing it here?

The National Pictures copyright on Mundill Mahil's picture is a straight copy of her profile picture of her facebook page....how can they claim copyright over that!!

We really do live in crazy times.

To be honest I feel sorry for all 3 (now 4) of the individuals involved in this affair. The victim of course and the charged. Tragic wastes of lives of these young Sikhs.

The only link I can see between the two murders, father and son, is that each gave money to help sosmeone and then got killed deleted.

I know we have to wait for the court case but this is what is in the public domain

However since they are only teens, deleted

Any way, lets see what happens.

Idle gossip has been deleted. Thanks, spnadmin

LONDON: A teenage girl has been charged with the murder of her wealthy Indian-origin TV executive boyfriend in a suspected love triangle in London.

Reena Kumar, Reporter Thursday, March 3, 2011

Relatives and friends of Gagandip Singh, 21, from Bexleyheath, held a candlelit vigil in Angerstein Lane, Blackheath, on Monday, with religious leaders and mourners travelling from as far as Birmingham.

Firefighters made the grim discovery in the boot of the Mercedes C class at about 2am on Saturday after putting out the blaze. A post-mortem revealed he suffered severe head injuries, further tests are being conducted.

Three people have appeared in court charged with his murder.

Mr Singh’s mother, Tarjinder Kaur Singh, who is diabetic and suffered a heart attack when her husband was murdered in 2009, fainted at the service and was treated at the site by medical staff.

Tribute message left with flowers at the site where Gagandip Singh's body was found in a burnt out carTribute message left with flowers at the site where Gagandip Singh's body was found in a burnt out car

Close friend, Sunny Khakh, 26, from Charlton, said: “He was an extraordinary guy.

“He could change people’s lives. We feel like he’s going to come home soon, it doesn’t make sense. This shouldn’t have happened to him.”

Mr Singh was studying business and human resources at Greenwich university and had become a part-time student after his father was shot dead in India two years ago.

He was the owner of Sikh TV, a Sikh channel, as well as two recruitment agencies, including The Superior Service Co, in Plumstead.

Sumanjeet Kaur Bhullar, 25, a broadcaster from East London, said: “He knew when to be serious but beneath it all, you knew that there was this charming young lad.

“He made it possible for so many people to carry out service in the community and allowing that to happen brought the community together.

“For a 21-year-old to have had this perspective was inspirational. I hope everyone around him continues the work he started.”

Mr Singh who leaves behind a younger sister, Aman Kaur Singh, 19, was an active member of the Sikh community and attended the temple, Gurdwara Sahib in Woolwich. He had a black belt in Twai Kwono and enjoyed playing football.

Manager of Sikh TV, Gursevak Singh, 31, from Birmingham, said: “We were like brothers, very close. We shared a lot together.

“He never got into arguments, he’s more of a person who would help people, that’s the tragic thing.

“He was very respected in the community and had many businesses at the age of 21. This was just the start of his career and he was a potential politician.

“He hadn’t got over the death of his father.

“Not many people can achieve as much as he did in his short life.”

Darren Peters, 19, of Shooters Hill Road, Blackheath, Mundill Kaur Mahil, 19, of Maidstone Road, Chatham, and Harvinder Singh Shoker, 19, of Charlton Park Lane, Charlton have all been charged with the murder.

All three appeared at the Old Bailey yesterday for a short bail hearing and were remanded in custody until June 6 to enter pleas.
