To me, it was never meant to be same. Had it been equated at their births?
If not, then why now.
If yes, why was this not proposed since beginning of our religion?

A Sikh could be anyone seeking and learning about the Ultimate truth or the Akalpurakh but A Khalsa is same as above but he is baptized one or had the Khande ke pahul and is learing thro the Gurus way (thro Gurmat).

Look at it this way...

1. ALL soldiers are men/women...BUT not all Men/women are soldiers..

2. All Khalsa are SIKHS..but not all sikhs are KHALSA...

can be used in any situation......Doctor, Engineers, astronauts....teachers....whatever...

A KHALSA has a special Code of Conduct....an INITIATION CEREMONY...a daily Rehat..Nitnem..Life style...a Uniform ID..etc etc which is not necessarily a "must" for a sikh..rather a "recommendation"... so while we may have about 25 Million SIKHS..there may be only about 250,000 Khalsa....or less !!:happysingh::veryhappykaur::happykaur:ikonkaarkhandaa:welcome:

Guruka Singh ji says:
I wonder why we never think [beforehand] about what we say [before we say it].

I read in one my textbooks:
If we thought before we spoke, the silence would be deafening.

May I say, the institutionalized Khalsa, obviously is reserved for those who follow the code of conduct.
Khalsa as per its meaning still cannot interchangeable with Sikh. However, it can be used to refer to a Sikh. As a Sikh is to be pure of heart, or at least learn to do so. I read somewhere that Guru Gobind Singh ji used to to refer to Muslims and Hindus as Khalsa.

IMO A Sikh is one who follows only Sikh Gurus. A Khalsa can be anyone who is accepted by Guru whether he follows Gurus faith or not.
