I have Microsoft Office 2003. It came with 3 licenses, and I have it
installed on 3 different computers, so I have no extra licenses. My question
is, I'm thinking about reformatting one of those computers, and I'm wondering
if I will be able to re-install Office on it. Will I be able to re-install
it without having to pay for another license?

    Hi.

Yes. Once you've activated the license, Microsoft assigns that particular
license to that particular computer. After you re-install Office 2003,
you'll be prompted to activate it again (so as to store the activation info
on your computer, too), but it should go without a hitch (unless you've made
drastic changes to the hardware), because Microsoft's records show that the
license has already been assigned to that computer. Microsoft identifies
each computer by the hardware installed, some of which is considered unique
to a single computer, so you'd have to replace some major pieces of hardware
for Microsoft to identify it as a different computer than was first used to
    activate the license.

While activation is required, registration is not. Registration helps
Microsoft keep track of the owner of the license, because some licenses are
non-transferrable. Check your EULA for more information about your license.
