Situation: On some of the workstations on our network, the user is unable to
open more than one Access database at a time. When they attempt to open the
second, the window for the first becomes active, hangs for a few seconds and
then a second blank Access window opens, but never connects to the database,
the first is also locked up. In Task Manager, both are shown as 'Not
Responding'. On other workstations, the user can open several .mdbs with no
    trouble.
I have checked everything I could think of on the workstations and they
appear to be configured the same.
I found one post about 'Name AutoCorrect', but this is not set in any of the
    databases.
If I open Access directly from the Start Menu, I can then open the second
    database.
I found that if I turn off DDE under Windows Explorer>Tools>Folder
Options>File Type>Advanced that I can open multiple databases OK. I am
worried about this work-around since it does not answer why it is working on
some workstations with DDE turned on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since you're here... we have a small favor to ask...

More people are visiting & reading SPN than ever but far fewer are paying to sustain it. Advertising revenues across the online media have fallen fast. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Donating to SPN's is vote for free speech, for diversity of opinions, for the right of the people to stand up to religious bigotry. Without any affiliation to any organization, this constant struggle takes a lot of hard work to sustain as we entirely depend on the contributions of our esteemed writers/readers. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too... Fund our efforts and together we can keep the world informed about the real Sikh Sikhi Sikhism. If everyone who writes or reads our content, who likes it, helps us to pay for it, our future would be much more secure. Every Contribution Matters, Contribute Generously!
