THE CHARGE

Katta Jagadish’s firm ITASCA in August 2006 submitted an application for IT and ITES SEZ project in Bandikodigehalli village. The application was facilitated by Katta Jagadish in Karnataka Udyog Mitra. Subsequent to the application, his father Naidu, overlooking irregularities in the application, its wrong processing and other frailties, ordered its presentation before the State High Level Committee headed by the then Chief Minister.

In May 2007, the acquisition of land in Bandikodigehalli village was initiated and an MoU between ITASCA and KIADB for allotment of land was entered into.

For these and for obtaining the consent of farmers, majority of whom were family members and associates of Naidu and Jagadish, “illegal gratification” of Rs 87 crore was paid to a benami company of Naidu and Jagadish.

Officials of Industries Department and KIADB, who committed criminal misconduct in this process and were charged with various acts of forgery, fabrication of documents have also been listed as accused in the FIR.

The officials ITASCA and United Telecom who have paid the illegal amount to Indu Builders and Developers have also been arraigned as accused.
