One of the four Indian men arrested last week in Austria suspected of having planned an attack on an Indian religious gathering, has been remanded in custody, the prosecution announced today.

The Austrian police had arrested the four on Wednesday at a lecture given by an Indian guru at a temple in Oberwaltersdorf, south of Vienna.

The national security and counter-terrorism bureau suspected them of planning an attack on the gathering, which had attracted some 800 faithful, according to the media reports.

Moreover, a link with a deadly shooting at a Sikh temple in Vienna last year "cannot be ruled out," the prosecution said at the time.

The four men were thought to belong to the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF), a separatist group seeking the creation of a Sikh state in India's Punjab state.

The main suspect will now remain in custody for 14 days, the prosecution said.

The three other men were released on Friday for lack of evidence
