I receive the 'macros disabled' error message when opening and closing
Outlook and Word. How do I go about correcting this?

I'd suggest asking in a newsgroup related to Outlook or Word.

This newsgroup is for questions about Access, the database product that's
    part of Office Professional.

I agree with Douglas in that the answer may be different from access db's,
but for most windows apps to enable macros (and other stuff) you need to
alter you security settings. - Open access (or whatever) go to Tools,
    Security, Set level.
