I need help on converting Microsoft access from win98 FAT format to
    WinXP home NT access format.

I recently bought an off-lease IBM for $299, loaded with winXP home and
office 2000. I activated it and thought I could easily convert my win98
    office 2000 access files.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. It kept telling me it couldn't
convert the old files copied form win98 HD.

    Please help.

I don't have any idea what you are doing. FAT is File Allocation Table.
It is the way the hard drive is formatted and has nothing to do with
Microsoft Access. Microsoft Windows NT (aka XP) can use either FAT 32 or
(I forget the other format name) The newer format allows larger files than
    FAT 32 .

The format name you've forgotten is "NTFS"

Yea, that's it. I just formatted a drive on my "server" in the
basement. The backup from my computer has become too large for FAT 32.

Perhaps you could give the 'exact err msg' and how 'exactly' you
    copied/accessed the old Access files.
PS Winxp, if using NTFS can see and work with a FAT file system.
