When I try to open a form, I get the following error message:
you loaded a form or report that has controls or properties that microsoft
access doesn't recognize and will ignore

    The form will not open.

What can I try to get the form to open properly?

You "could" open the form by pressing the shift key as you select the form
BUT it's not a good idea.

One way is (not the best option) to open the form in design view and delete
a contol then try and open it in form view - if it won't then that control
was not the one causeing the problem. Keep doing this until you find the
    problem.

The best option would be either to use a backup if you have one or rewrite
    the form
(I know thats not what you wanted to her - sorry)

    Hope this helps

Thanks, Wayne. I ended up finding a back up.

Since you're here... we have a small favor to ask...
