Wow, I've missed out an entire chunk of movie culture! I'll watch the above when I get home.

My favourite movies, in no particular order:

The Dark Crystal (the Jim Henson one)
Short Circuit (1 and 2)
Air Force One (*blush *)

I also like:

Gran Torino (I think that's how it's spelt)
District 9

And I don't like:

Cast Away
Philadelphia
The World's Fastest India (this is a love/hate relationship)

Although I think these last three are great films, they make me feel yucky when I watch them. I think it's the despair and helplessness, and the way Burt is taken for a ride (excuse the pun) 1/3 of the way into the film - reminds me too much of my dad.

*sigh* I kind of miss the Punjabi restaurant near where I lived before. They had good food cheap, and always had soccer or a Bollywood movie playing on television. I couldn't understand the movies, but I liked the music.

I don't have one favorite movie, but my favorite type is old slapstick comedy - Buster Keaton, Abbott and Costello, The Three Stooges. lol

I might add The Shawshank Redemption.

I love musicals, too.
West Side Story,
Cabaret,
Hair (lousy movie but the songs are unequaled),
My Fair Lady
* a bit shame-faced* The Sound of Music
The Producers

However, Dr. Strangelove must be near the top of everybody's list.

The Neverending Story

The majority of the story takes place in the parallel world of Fantastica (Phantásien in the original German version; referred to as Fantasia in the films), a world being destroyed by the Nothing, which represents and constitutes people's lack of imagination in the real world. The first protagonist is a young warrior, who is asked by the Steward of The Empress of Fantastica, to set off and find a way to stop The Nothing. The other protagonist is a boy from the real world, a reader of the novel with the same title, for whom the story gradually becomes more and more realistic. Like other works by Ende, The Neverending Story is influenced by anthroposophic thought.
