I have created a somewhat complex relational db and would like to
populate the db using EDDs. The EDDs would be the required information
to be uploaded into several tables.
    Two questions:

Is an update query the best way to populate those tables using an EDD?

I will probably have no problem if all the fields populated in the EDD
are unique values. I was wandering what should I do if some of the
fields in the specific record are new and some are repeated values

    e.g.

table 1contains author and relevant information about author
table 2 contains the publication information

if I uplaod and edd with an author that is not yet entered in the db I
do not foresee having any problems. If i upload an edd that has a
preentered author but a new publication, I would like the publication
to be updated and be assigned to that author, but not for the author to
be added again to that table..

sorry if this is convoluted... any help would be great... thanks

'Fraid I'm not familiar with the terminology. What's an "Electronic Data
    Deliverable"?

And I really don't have any idea what kind of data structure you have in
    place to "receive" these deliverables...

    More info, please...

Since you're here... we have a small favor to ask...

More people are visiting & reading SPN than ever but far fewer are paying to sustain it. Advertising revenues across the online media have fallen fast. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Donating to SPN's is vote for free speech, for diversity of opinions, for the right of the people to stand up to religious bigotry. Without any affiliation to any organization, this constant struggle takes a lot of hard work to sustain as we entirely depend on the contributions of our esteemed writers/readers. We do it because we believe our perspective matters – because it might well be your perspective, too... Fund our efforts and together we can keep the world informed about the real Sikh Sikhi Sikhism. If everyone who writes or reads our content, who likes it, helps us to pay for it, our future would be much more secure. Every Contribution Matters, Contribute Generously!
