compact command

    i usually do compact command at mid-night

    i find it will be failed if xp is not logon

    Can i do it in another way the xp is NOT logon?

    Everything I've heard / read points to the fact that it's bad to
    automatically compact and repair. I can't remember why at the moment. Maybe
    one of the experts will comment.

    You can use the JetComp utility (from microsoft) that requires different
    files anyway - so that should be safer (backup of the file available)
