Kaam or lust is not confined to sexual desire but to anything which becomes unhealthy desire which Controls is instead of us controlling it. It could be gambling, alcohol, control / power over others etc.

As for physical ummm urges... the human body has a built in drive. Without it the human species would not propagate. There are also many benefits physically that are not directly related to procreation like release of certain bonding hormones that bring spouses closer. Just because you may not be married however does not negate your body's NATURAL drive. And there is still benefit from it regarding health. The emphasis should be on a way to regulate this natural desire without risk or premarital relations. And of course use judgement. Watching porn can be an addiction so stay away from that stuff. But naturally releasing built up tension on your own in private and without any desire attached to it just for sake of pleasure then I don't think it's a bad thing. The idea is you never want to let it rule you. There is a reason the Gurus never advocated for celibacy. It's not the natural human state and deprivation actually causes more harm.
