I have first name and last name in a report and want then to size according
to the content so that I get

    FirstName Last Name

    or

    First Last

    and not

    First Last

    etc

    Hi,
make sure the controls can shrink and can grow properties are set to
YES...you could then drag them to a really small size in design view and they
should always grow/shrink to the appropriate size of the content they hold.

    Good luck

Try concatenating the name in a query (or in the report) and using the
result in a textbox. In a query column:

    FullName: [FirstName] & " " & [LastName]

as the controlsource of a text box:

    = [FirstName] & " " & [LastName]

Add an unbound control to the report.
    Set it's control source to:

    =[FirstName] & " " & [LastName]

Make sure the name of this control is neither FirstName nor LastName.
