| |  | | | Sukhmani Sahib Astpadi 22 Sabad 3 / ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ੨੨ ਸਬਦ ੩
ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ Salok. Salok (Core theme of eight sabads/hymns in the Astpadi) ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਕੇ ਠਾਕੁਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਵਰਤਣਹਾਰ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਰ ॥੧॥ Jī▫a janṯ ke ṯẖākurā āpe varṯanhār. Nānak eko pasri▫ā ḏūjā kah ḏaristār. ||1|| Master of the living and life, by self so interacting everywhere. Nanak, only one so present, where has second been seen! ਅਸਟਪਦੀ॥ Asatpaḏī. Eight stanzas hymn ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥ Pūran pūr rahe ḏa▫i▫āl. Sabẖ ūpar hovaṯ kirpāl. Complete benevolent one is omnipresent. Shows benevolence to all. ਅਪਨੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਜਾਨੈ ਆਪਿ ॥ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਰਹਿਓ ਬਿਆਪਿ ॥ Apne karṯab jānai āp. Anṯarjāmī rahi▫o bi▫āp. Own methods knows by self. Knowing of all hearts, present everywhere. ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੈ ਜੀਅਨ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ॥ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਰਚਿਓ ਸੁ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਤਿ ॥ Paraṯipālai jī▫an baho bẖāṯ. Jo jo racẖi▫o so ṯisėh ḏẖi▫āṯ. So nurtures the living in many ways. Ones all so created, such remember so. ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥ Jis bẖāvai ṯis la▫e milā▫e. Bẖagaṯ karahi har ke guṇ gā▫e. One so liked, such bring so close. Doing contemplation, singing virtues of such. ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਸ੍ਵਾਸੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥ ਕਰਨਹਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕੁ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥ Man anṯar bisvās kar māni▫ā. Karanhār Nānak ik jāni▫ā. ||3|| In the mind with such belief so held. Nanak has understood the only one creator. Quote: ESSENCE: In the salok, Guru ji recognize the one and only creator, master of all life and interacting with all.
Guru Arjan Dev ji in Astpadi 22, 3rd sabad describe virtues and show praise for one creator. The only one so benevolent and omni-present, knowing of everyone’s heart, remembers and nurtures all. In loving closeness as blessed, the one’s display contemplation and sing praises.
Guru ji conclude that with this understanding only one creator he has so recognized. | Please note all errors are mine and I stand corrected.
