| | | | | Re: Kesh Kakaar For Sikhs, Kesh i.e. Hair is the gift from God. The keeping of hair in its natural state is regarded as living in harmony with the will of God, and is a symbol of the Khalsa brotherhood and the Sikh faith. Hair is an integral part of the human body created by God and Sikhism call for its preservation. Sikhs live the way God made humans and never cut their hair. Guru Gobind Singh Ji instructed Sikh to wear Turban in order to protect their hair. Turban has many purposes and one is to keep a Sikh focused in his beliefs.
Personally, I feel much better wearing the crown with all respect to my body, treating it as a gift from the Ik Ong Kaar. Each pore on body as an energy channel. |

| | | | | Re: Kesh Kakaar I consider this human body as true temple or Gurudwara where their is possibility that Akal purakh will manifest himself in purest sense one day . So this body is closest manifestation of god to me and hair on this body grow naturally so it becomes duty of every body even nonsikh to respect this house of god with utmost care. While as asikh i do this by wearing a turban . sometimes i wonder that there are lot of people who are very nature loving whether religious or not dedicate their whole life in preservation of nature ( like plants and animals) but seems to ignore the closest manifestation of nature on their own body (hairs) |

| | | | | Re: Kesh Kakaar Commonly asked questions on Hair –
1) Is it okay to cut your hair and still pass yourself off as a Sikh? NO! You either are a Sikh or you aren't. There is no such thing as cut-Sikh, clean-shaven sikh.
2) Is it okay to wax or shave my legs or armpits? No.
3) Is it okay to bleach my facial hair or color my kesh? No.
4) Is it okay to trim my beard? No. Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=938Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=938
4) Electrolysis? No.
Bottom Line: Male and female Sikhs are not to permitted to cut their hair under any circumstances, except in cases of dire medical necessity where no other alternative is present. |

Haumai (ego)
don't really see any other reason why hair needs to be coloured. |

Please elaborate your connection of ego with hair color. I am unable to understand the connection.
Thanks. |

| | | | | | | Re: Kesh Kakaar Hmmm....
trying to think how to explain this, can't really think of anything elaborate since it seems quite simple to me.
Basically I see it as - Why do you want to colour your hair?
if it's just to make you look younger, then that's just catering to ego.
But actually thinking about it, this then raises the question of how far do you go with this rationale?
This reasoning then states that we shouldn't have have big houses, nice cars, designer clothes,
the list goes on to thus cover anything materialistic.....
I'm gonna need to think about this. |

I dont think it is appropriate to mix up materialistic things with ego. But perhaps you are talking from the point when people want to show down others by getting those better things. If yes, well, those are different things. And dont seem to suffice combining hair color with ego. I will wait for a suitable example from your side reinforcing your point.
