what is "it" now?

why do we need identity?

is it not ego?

is following Guru sahib acting in ego?

not according to my limited understanding of sikhi... perhaps you can explain it better? do we ignore all of Guru sahib's teachings, assuming all of it is "ego"? or do we pick and choose which to follow? and how do we choose? by listening to you?

a valid question jasleen ji

we are no one to pick and choose.

Akal ordains and picks and chooses.

the whole SGGS is replete with examples of that.

remember i asked another question about human will in another thred.

"human will" will always get subjugated by Akal's will.

no where i am saying that we ignore Guruji's teachings.

my point is that "identity" as discussed breeds one of the root vices - ego

to me, my "identity" today is - nothing

i am ignorant of it. So to me, it is Nothing.

once i get the realization of self and Akal, i will get the "true identity"

and to the point of my explaining.... i donot think i can, this has to come through realization.

though i will keep asking questions

Re: Advice for making a change from Sikhism >> Invite Your Friends

Just a thought.

"subjugation" may not be exactly the right word. I say this because Akaal has never seemed a stern character.

More like lovingly realizing that one is in the end powerless and that God has taken care of everything.

He is merciful to the week...ooops! to the weak.

aad0002 ji

amardeep ji is talking about physical identity. It has nothing to do with the SPIRITUAL aspect. Generally with beard and turban one is considered a Sikh, it could not be a fact at all. Point here was about a person who was like a Sikh for a long time and suddenly is taking U turn. Such comments are inevitable

U turn. That is a funny way of putting it. You are making me laugh. Show me a thread without a U turn. Maybe there are a few. Anyway, Waheguru, Akaal, in all of His names, is Merciful.

ok, so correct me if i'm wrong... if we follow our own personal idea of "Sikh identity", it's ego.

but to keep the identity that Guru sahib has shown us, that would not be ego, right? at least it doesn't seem like Guru would ask us to act in ego...

jasleen ji

there is no point of debate of Sikh or hindu or muslim identity

the issue is with "identity"
