He’s a three-time John Harvard scholar, the highest academic honor the university bestows. He’s a Herschel Smith science fellow, a member of the honor society Phi Beta Kappa, and, gradewise, he’s at the top of his university. In high school, the Chicago Tribune named him its student of the year, he won the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics written competition, and he had a flawless 36 ACT score.
