Hi All,

I live in Spore. Although i am a teenage sikh, my mother tongue is infact Mandarin (Chinese ). My parents made me take up this language as in the Asian Peninsula, China is a Business Paradise. I cannot speak punjabi at all..although i understand simple terms of the language (enough to understand simple conversations)

When i am not in the temple and i want to pray, like lets say in school, how do we pray? Most schools in Spore are Christian, so a short prayer is done everyday. Do i follow that same format? Does ending my prayer with an amen alright? How do i do this.

I know my question may sound a little silly..but its an honest and curious question of mine. Help is greatly appreciated!

Regards

I do know some sikh prayers...but i don't mean those kind of prayers. I mean those of which i ask god for something, like "O God, thank you for the day the dinner i had today. God may you bless me tomorrow as i go for my holiday, that i will have a safe plane ride......etc'

Either way, u are remembering God in some way.. You are thanking him for his Daily Bread and are seeking his shelter. U say it in punjabi or english , it means the same thing, so its all good. True prayer is from the true heart. However, i believe that it is important to sometimes learn about what else our Guru's have said (other teachings that God may want us to meditate on as well). For that there are translations today I have the Nitnem, Asa Di VAr, and even Sukhmani Sahib with translations in english. And, Personally, I do not hink it is wrong today Amen, or even to make a sign of the cross, because Jesus was another man of God. To mention either Guru/Jesus is the same thing. God is one.
