Subject: Why I Consider Myself a Conservative/Republican...
Why will I be voting for Bush?

For the last year, I have been an avid follower of politics. To this day, I can't determine if Kerry is a phony political opportunist or whether he actually has meaningful personal convictions. I can sometimes decipher what he claims to stand for on a given day, but I am not sure at all that even his supporters are going on anything more than a desperate blind faith.

Consequently, I am not satisfied that Kerry, who swung to the anti-war left in order to (grab) the Democratic nomination from Howard Dean, can now be believed when he salutes and claims to be a committed anti-terrorist warrior. If he had spoken as tough as he is now about killing terrorists, back in the days of the Democratic primaries, he would have gone the way of Lieberman, and we'd be choosing between Bush and Dean right now.

The world changed on Sept. 11th 2001, but the anti-war left is still living in the world of Sept. 10. In their utopian world view, we can eliminate religiously motivated, apocalyptic terrorism by changing our foreign policy, consuming less of the world's resources, increasing foreign aid, ratifying the Kyoto Protocols, joining the International Criminal Court, and relinquishing our national sovereignty to the United Nations.

But back here in the real world, we will defeat such fascist terrorism only by eliminating their lives, their supporters and their sources of financing, and spreading the ideas of economic freedom, consensual government, and the empowerment of women on a global scale. Free nations do not produce international terrorists. Those are the keys to world peace, as opposed to a 'blame America' mentality or a pacifistic avoidance of confrontation with brutal dictators in order to 'maintain peace and stability.' Peace is more than the absence of war, it is the presence of freedom and justice.'

I get asked the same question over and over again. "How can you, a 'miniority', be Republican?" And then some go on to even claim I am just brain washed by the "right-wing media" aka ONLY Fox News.

To me, the reason is obvious. My morality differs from many others and usually aligns with the popular opinion held by conservatives. I am against abortion. I am against Gay Marriage, and I believe in traditional family values. I consider myself religious. I am against socialist programs, and against the use of welfare, and affirmative action.

For what has the Democratic Party ever done for me, the "miniority", or better yet, for "my people" ?

I am not a recipient of welfare, and assume affirmative action did not help me in any possible way. Even if I was using those options, I would most likely still remain against them.

What have Democrats done more for me or "my people" that Republicans have not?
And why would this make me change my stance on morality since it differs greatly from most liberals and Democrats. Do they really help me THAT much, that I am willing to give up my morals for this much-needed help?

Am I the one that is brain-washed by the "right-wing" media? Or are you all just sucked in by the "Democrats help minorities/foreigners" statements that are overly exaggerated?

I agree, with why some people choose to vote Democrat, their morals may differ from mine. I do not bash them, nor do I say, "Hey! but your supposed to be a religious guy and religion says not to do this and that, I can't believe your voting Democrat!"

Traces of me being conservative have always shown, I do not realize why it's such a shock.

Hey! Hey!! we have a genuine writing talent amongst us... i read the whole article with great interest and i must say it was really makes an obsorbing reading... keep it up... i know that its a gr8 personal feeling to be able to write whatever is in your mind.

I am from India and have hardly ever utlised my vote, so don't expect me to understand what republican or democrats rant for... but there is a general feeling that Bush did go over the hill by attacking Iraq although for Afganistan it has done wonders...

You said...

So, you imply that fascist terrorism can only killed by counter fascist terrorism. How will it be a catalyst for world peace considering these terrorists have their branches spread over the whole world... ?

I think world peace is a fantasy dreamland, which will never exist on this earth. Its all about survival of the fittest. If America made pre-emptive strikes in Iraq then it was only due to sheer fear factor that these terrorist nations could create chaos in America. They are least bothered about terrorism in Kashmir, Palestine etc. They know that countries struggling with terrorism will never pose threat to the soverignity of America. Remember how they engineered Osama-bin-Laden against Russians and now when he turned against USA they are desparate to eliminate him. I think USA is only worried about their own soverignity rather than world peace.

Any i think Bush is going to lose to Kerry...

I take this more of the choice of picking up lesser devil, not for who is actually suitable for the job.

Yeah, Bush will probably lose to Kerry, but what can you do, right?
Anyways, yes the terrorists do have networks all over the world...but thats the point...we take out this one network, and all of its financial status, it will lose connections to the other ones. And WE do know that Al Quada is huge, and I wouldnt be surprised if Al Quada was helping Islamic terrorists in Kashmir in some sort of way.
So, if we cut off Al Zarqwari and other leaders in Iraq...this will cause the terrorists to lose organization and will give a huge financial blow to them. This could or could not even help resolve terrorism in Kashmir.

And finally, someone agrees with me....the world will never be a peace dreamland. That's just what the liberals think. Utopia is not possible as long as humans dont evolve.

And Sevadaar Singh...almost every presidential election in the United States is picking the lesser of two evils.
