Dhadees are vital to Sikhi...

Dear friends,
I came across thsi inspiring post on the internet and wish to share it with you. This is to dispell the notion that "Dhadees" also sing Kachee Bani. Whenever aSant Baab is accused of "competign" with GURBANI by singing his own made up two liners/jingles/rhymes known as Kachee Bani....his supporters will needlessly drag in the dhadees/kavishars etc and say what about those ??

Well Guru Amardass ji actively DISCOURAGES and even CONDEMNS singing Kachee bani tweo liners/jingles in Anand Sahib..BUT the Dhadees and their Varaan were actively ENCOURAGED by Guru hargobind Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji..

Among the good fortunes of the Sikhs are not only one form of worship through Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, the unsurpassed Book of Divinity, that is all composed in music (Raag), but also another form of worship and devotion, that is, sung by DHAADHI SINGHS

Dhaadi Singhs sing a unique kind of INSPIRING music that serves three vital functions for the Sikhs:

1. They recount history of our struggle to survive, verbatim, generation after generation. This account is immune from interference from political rulers of the time. Courageous and honourable Dhaadi Singhs do not let our history be diluted, distorted or manipulated by our enemies who continuously plan to demoralise, impoverish and divide the Sikhs.

There are several instances when the Sikhs bounced back while the rest of Hindustan remained flat and in dog collar of slavery (at present under Italian born Mother of Nation, or “Rashtramata” Sonia Gandhi).

The Mogul repression saw us bounce back and create an empire whose flag flew over KHYBERPass. (In 1947 top HINDU leaders of India surrendered unconditionally not only Khyber but also Lahore and Sri Nankana Sahib to indigenous Muslims).

The British saw us bounce back to retain our “kirpan”, and the present Congress Sarkar saw us bounce back after their devastating malicious attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib in 1984.

2. They inspire, unify and STRENGTHEN the Sikh community.

3. They inspire the individual to strive for excellence. As a result the Sikhs are among the finest people on earth, much respected by all for our sterling qualities and high standards of morality. Our image in the world is very high despite the extremely low image of India and Hindus in East Bengal, Sindh, Fiji and Uganda.

Finally, while conventional kirtan tends to lull one to sleep in bliss, Dhaadi Singhs rouse the spirit.

Much credit for our high spirits and good image in the world, and our glory- past and FUTURE, rests on Dhaadi Jathaas.

Let us salute them. Let us always turn up to listen to them whenever they perform in our gurdwara.
