I am led to beleive that Guru Nanak Ji gave this reply when someone said that if "we all started to naam japp then who would do the ordinary jobs in the world". Guru Ji stated that if everyone was to do naam japp then rivers become milk,the land becomes sweet,the mountains become gold & precious.

The point Guru Ji was making was that the world is not dependant on man but rather dependant on God the creator. Man does not have the capability to sustain the world but God does.

Re: If the rivers became cows

Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji KI fateh.

This Slok must not be read in isolation. If we read it in association with the Preceeding bani on the same Page 141... we will find that Guru ji is discussing How difficult it is to be a GOOD MUSLIM...and a Good KING/RULER.

The Kings and Rulers of the day were Muslims.

It is commonly beleived that in the "Muslim Heaven"... Rivers of Honey and Wine are said to flow, Beautiful Maidens roam by the thousands to serve the men, and palaces of GOLD and riches are there... ( EVERYTHING that ordinary "men" cannot or FAIL to get here on EARTH while ALIVE...is "PROMISED" in this Heaven/Behshast !!)...a Fat JUICY CARROT if there ever was one dangled before anyone !!!....alas such a "carrot" holds no value whatsoever to a SIKh of GURU NANAK...
Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=5319

Guru Ji is giving HIS SIDE of this ... by declaring even IF all rives begin to Flow with Milk ( and HONEY !!)...and the Mountains and Hills all become made of GOLD and JEWELS...the ONLY thing GURU JI is really interested in is AKAL PURAKH ONLY..and to SING His PRAISES. In other words SIKHS are NOT INTERESTED in such "wealth' and ...such "promises"....??? Only the PRAISE of WAHEGURU supercedes all this..and thats what we aspire towards...ALl the time.

Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji KI fateh.

I dont know where veer ji got this quote from... BUT we are ALL REQUIRED to NAAM JAPP..as per GURBANI's instructions. SO there is NO QUESTION of "IF" as stated in the quote above.

Guru Ji came to this Earth with the SOLE OBJECTIVE of getting all of us to naam japp...and since we can all see that there are NO RIVERS of MILK anywhere, and neither are there any mountains of GOLD and Jewels.. that would mean that not "enough" people are nam japping ??? and when this FIGURE reaches the correct number..all RIVERS will turn to MILK Overnight ?? Gurbani says no such thing.

Please read my previous message also.

WE MUST ALSO not FORGET THAT A sikh OF GURU NANAK JI IS not JUST A "NAAM JAPPING" monk WHO DOESNT DO ANY WORLDY JOBS !!!

far from it, Guru nanak ji HIMSELF was a Hard working FARMER, who planted crops, cut grass to feed his animals..and did all thsoe daily chores of a farmer..while Naam japping !! Guru ji gave us THREE hukms..Kirt karo, Wand Chhako, naam jappo. Kirt Karo is HONEST LABOUR !!! Then we must SHARE the Fruits of this Honest Labour...and then only comes Naam japp.

ALL those "SANTS" and derawallhs who sit around their deras being "naam japping....and nothing else.. are in DIRECT CONFLICT with Guru Jis FIRST HUKM of KIRT KARO....and IF they DONT have KIRT KARO..they have NOTHING to WAAND CHHAKO...thus they FAIL the second HUKM as well.
Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=5319

IF someone were to "point" a finger at GURU SAHIBBANS and say..Guru Ji also did Naam japp just like these SANTS..I would say..Guru JI all had NORMAL KIRT JOBS.... Guru nanak ji was a FARMER, SHOPKEEPER, STORE KEEPER.. Guru Angad Ji Guru Amardass ji supported their selves by making ropes and selling those in the market to earn honest income etc etc. Further more GURU SAHIBS came Direct from AKAL PURAKH and are not the same as these human Sants...after all Guru Ji has made us SANT-SIPAHI..and not just sant alone. Sipahi means a WORKER also...who fights vikaars, does honest labour, earns a honest living...etc etc.

Gurbani at many places shames those who just do "naam japp" and then go to Grishtee homes of married men to have their FOOD. Guru ka Langgar is not a place for such free loaders as well.
