| | | | | Sikh Choir: A National Trust Event Sikh Choir is part of National Trust event – Rejoice

Sikh women’s Choir Sikh Nari Munch will this year be performing at an inspirational concert showcasing the vocal talents of a range of faith and entertainment groups is set to take place in Birmingham. The National Trust is hosting the ‘Rejoice!’ concert at its Back to Back Houses attraction, to bring diverse inspirational music together in historic surroundings. It is part of the Trust’s Whose Story? project which is an initiative to highlight the cultural diversity of stories and heritage at National Trust properties in the West Midlands. Rejoice! will feature the uplifting sounds of Gospel, Irish folk and Sikh music, in the courtyard of the houses on the corner of Hurst and Inge Street.Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/sikh-sikhi-sikhism/26026-sikh-choir-a-national-trust-event.html The event is historically inspired by the Birmingham Court and Alley Concerts Association, which began in 1898 when musicians played free concerts to encourage, inspire and entertain thousands of people who lived in these courtyards. Award winning acts performing include Black Voices, Fola Irish group and the Sikh Nari Manch Choir, is lead by Bibi Gurdev Kaur who recently was awarded and OBE in the Queens birthday annual awards. Joyce Wallace, Outreach Officer for the Whose Story? project, said: “Rejoice! is going to be a special and inspirational concert highlighting professional groups and community choirs from various faith and entertainment backgrounds. “You are certain to be left joyous and uplifted.” Rejoice! takes place on Saturday 8 August 2009. Tickets cost: £10 Adults, £5 Children (six to 16 years) and light refreshments are included in the price.
The performance runs from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
