What is True Love?

Can there be True Love among humans, between man and woman, parents for children and children for parents, within families, among friends, within the sangat, for humanity -- without the SatGuru?

ਸਚਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
sachaa praem piaar gur poorae thae paaeeai ||
True love and affection are obtained from the Perfect Guru.

ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਭੰਗੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੧੧॥
kabehoo n hovai bhang naanak har gun gaaeeai ||11||
They never break, O Nanak, if one sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||11||

ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਨੇਹੁ ਕਿਉ ਜੀਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਪਿਰੀ ਵਿਹੂਣਿਆ ॥

How can those who have true love within them live without their Husband Lord?

guramukh maelae aap naanak chiree vishhunniaa ||12||
The Lord unites the Gurmukhs with Himself, O Nanak; they were separated from Him for such a long time. ||12||

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਤਉ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਰਿ ॥
jin ko praem piaar tho aapae laaeiaa karam kar ||
You grant Your Grace to those whom You Yourself bless with love and affection.

ਨਾਨਕ ਲੇਹੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਮੈ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ॥੧੩॥
naanak laehu milaae mai jaachik dheejai naam har ||13||
O Lord, please let Nanak meet with You; please bless this beggar with Your Name. ||13||

Beautiful ! Vital factor is the true love and respect for the Guru that accelerate the learning of Guru Teachings, the piles of questions towards which our so called misguided intellect intrigue us melt like ice if the True Love for the Guru is there in the first place. True love and affection are obtained from the Perfect Guru.
The farmer prepares the field before sowing there any thing, same way, the heart needs to be prepared, as fertilizer is needed, same way a true love for the Guru and Lord is mandatory. True love just doesn’t come with force, it is natural, and when it comes, it blossoms and glows distinctively. Here perfect Guru is said to be needed because perfect Guru helps in pulling out weeds like thinking and aid the follower to grow what it should be

When the weeds are out, fertilizer is there, what can stop a seed to grow to its fullest capacity? None. Same way when the heart is made ready, every kind of filthy and distracting ideology is weeded out, none can stop the glowing of true love in the heart

All is in His control; He unites with Him whom He wills. It is not a competition to wait for the reward, neither it is a show off, it is surrender to Him seeking nothing in return. Getting that true love is enough; enough is His blessing He bestows to let the true love grow within. Prayer is for this true love that seeks nothing but the Name of Lord.
That is the only thing the soul needs.

This is a very nice topic. There are so many things written in our Guru Granth Sahib ji related to love, but in practical life many of the people not accepting this. Its main drawback we can be consider as of less preaching of such topics in Gurudwara or social platforms.

Listen, O friend: show such love and affection to God,

जीअ प्रान घट घट आधारु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jī▫a parān gẖat gẖat āḏẖār. ||1|| rahā▫o.
the Support of the soul, the breath of life, of each and every heart. ||1||Pause||

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਭਏ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥

In the Love of God, all treasures are obtained.

In the Love of God, one crosses over this terrible world-ocean.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਡਰੈ ॥
प्रभ की प्रीति जम ते नही डरै ॥
Parabẖ kī parīṯ jam ṯe nahī darai.
In the Love of God, one does not fear death.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਗਲ ਉਧਾਰੈ ॥
प्रभ की प्रीति सगल उधारै ॥
Parabẖ kī parīṯ sagal uḏẖārai.
In the Love of God, all are saved.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਚਲੈ ਸੰਗਾਰੈ ॥੩॥
प्रभ की प्रीति चलै संगारै ॥३॥
Parabẖ kī parīṯ cẖalai sangāre. ||3||
The Love of God shall go along with you. ||3||

ਆਪਹੁ ਕੋਈ ਮਿਲੈ ਨ ਭੂਲੈ ॥
आपहु कोई मिलै न भूलै ॥
Āphu ko▫ī milai na bẖūlai.
By himself, no one is united, and no one goes astray.

ਜਿਸੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਘੂਲੈ ॥
जिसु क्रिपालु तिसु साधसंगि घूलै ॥
Jis kirpāl ṯis sāḏẖsang gẖūlai.
One who is blessed by God's Mercy, joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੈ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥

Guru only inspires love for the Lord which can be obtained through loving and caring fellow beings and moreover the opposite is also true when love for Lord is gained love for fellow being erupts from deep inside the heart.
