AMRITSAR: Not recognising the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC), Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Bibi Jagir Kaur said on Sunday that appointment of its new president was an internal matter of Pakistan.

Asserting that the committee was still firm on its demand that gurdwaras in Pakistan should be looked after by the SGPC, she said, "I have not received any official communique about appointment of the new PSGPC president."

About Mastan Singh, newly-appointed president of the PSGPC, having a liquor permit, the Bibi said that she did not want to comment, as it was a personal matter, but any Sikh managing gurdwaras should adhere to the Akal Takht-approved maryada.

Re: Bibi snubs appointment of PSGPC president

Just came to my mind that owning a liquor business and self-consumption are two different things, if at all if this is a concern for Bibi ji.

Who is calling the kettle black????

Bibi herself is under invesitigation for murdering her own daughter. She should have refused to become the president of SGPC during these serious charges.

All prestigious and important positions must have clean 'criminal record' or any kind of corruption charges - this shud become a must criteria.

The only way you can force it to be a criteria is if the people yell and MAKE it a criteria.

In Western Countries, there is no law that states one accused of crime can NOT become a political/religious leader. BUT, the public makes it so. The public outcries until the case is solved and if the person is found guilty, he will never see the office seat. If he is not-guilty...people speculate as to why he was accused, and will base their decision off that.

India is whack, the fact that you can have Tytler in office.
Indian religious leaders are the same way.

Thats the way Sikhs are...we yell for one thing, and then we die down in like 5 minutes.
