Amir Khan is a British citizen of Pakistani descent and a practicing Muslim. He comes from a middle-class family; he grew up in a mixed, white-Asian neighborhood; he doesn't seem to be angry, and he has become a national icon, the first truly assimilated Asian Muslim hero.
