Sikh clergy refuse to toe SGPC line !

Despite a lot of pressure, the Sikh clergy today refused to toe the line of the SGPC for giving a final nod to baptised Sikh women for performing kirtan in the sanctum sanctorum of Harmandar Sahib.
It is learnt that Bibi Jagir Kaur, SGPC President, personally spoke to Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti, Jathedar, Akal Takht for constituting a committee for a code of conduct for women who wish to perform kirtan and clean the sanctum sanctorum.
Mr Waryam Singh, secretary dharm parchar, Mr Harbir Singh Bhanwar, media adviser, and Mr Harjit Singh, personal assistant to the SGPC chief, took the typed paper to Jathedar Vedanti but he refused to sign the paper.

However, after the initial hiccups, the Sikh clergy today gave clear indications that gender discrimination had no place in Sikhism and hence the case regarding allowing baptised Sikh women to perform kirtan in the sanctum sanctorum of Harmandar Sahib would again be taken up at the next meeting, being convened shortly.
In a written release, issued late in the evening, Jathedar Vedanti said the issue needed a marathon discussion.
However, he said except for kirtan and cleaning of the sanctum sanctorum, women had been performing religious ‘seva’.
Earlier, after the meeting of the Sikh clergy, Jathedar Vedanti told mediapersons that no decision could be taken up regarding allowing women to perform kirtan.
Interestingly, in the evening senior officials of the SGPC rang up journalists stating that the Sikh high priests had ‘agreed in principle’ to allow Sikh women to perform kirtan. However, Mr Prithipal Singh Sandhu , non-official personal assistant to the Jathedar, Akal Takht, claimed that no such decision was taken.
It is reliably learnt that the Sikh high priests are divided over taking a ‘hasty’ decision on this important matter concerning the entire community.
While a section of the Damdami Taksal and the Sant Samaj (headed by Baba Sarbjot Singh Bedi) had openly opposed the move, the SGPC chief is eager to ensure a final nod by the Sikh clergy on the plea that gender discrimination could not be allowed as per Sikh tenets. The Dharam Parchar Committee of the SGPC has already given its approval to allow baptised women to perform kirtan in the sanctum sanctorum. However, Giani Gurbachan Singh, Head Granthi, Darbar Sahib, had stated that only the high priests were authorised to take a final decision on such matters.
Interestingly, the Religious Advisory Committee of the SGPC had passed a resolution on March 9, 1940, to allow baptised Sikh women to perform Kirtan, which could not be implemented for various reasons. Later, five Sikh high priests had directed the SGPC to allow baptised Sikh women to perform ‘seva’ in the sanctum sanctorum of Harmandar Sahib on February 9, 1996, which was also opposed by a section of the Sikh Panth.

WE "EMPOWERED" these Priests/High priests/ jathedars/ Dharam de thekedaars...to ACT on OUR BEHALF...to RULE our LIFE. we IGNORED the GURUBANI....the Guru's instructions..

NOW as they say Ghar dee billi sannu miao...OUR own house cat shows us his "TEETH" and growls at us !! Whose fault is this ??

IN GURMATT..what is the ULTIMATE AUTHORITY ?? ISNT it our GURBANI..GURU GRANTH JI ?? Then WHY are we NOT asking GURBANI ?/ GURU GRANTH JI ?? Why are we even bothering to ask the opinions of these priests ??

We have Committed the Ultimate.. SACRILEGE of "wrapping up GURBANI/GURU GRANTH JI" tightly shut in silk rumaals...and GIVEN these "priests" the POWER of ATTORNEY to sign our DEATH WARRANTS for us !!!

The GURU SAYS that ALL SIKHS are EQUALS.... The GURU SAYS all WOMEN are HIGH....So kio manda akheeyeh jit jammeh rajaan....How can you call them LOW whom give BIRTH to KINGS..The GURU EMPOWERS us ALL..men women and children...we tie our hands and hand over the chains to these priests to do as they wish !!!

The GURU made us the GURU KHALSA PANTH...in charge of our own DESTINY..not a bunch of kindergarten children...who have to be "controlled" by priests/jathedars/babas and sants.

We have the GURBANI..we have the MARYADA...but our hands are tied...
This RESOLUTION to Give equal rights to Amrtidharee Women the RIGHT to perform as raagis in Harmandir Sahib..was Passed 65 Years ago...not yesterday. These "dharam de thekedaars" have maanaged to BLOCK this progress for 65 years and will do so some more if we let them.

Guru Khalsa panth..take your destiny in YOUR OWN HANDS as the GURU intended. ANYTHING that is in line with GURBANI is 100% RIGHT. Anything that is CONTRA to GURBANI is 100% WRONG ( no matter of the Priests at harmandir do it )

gyani jee the problem is that there are several translations of guru granth sahib.each person picks the translation that suits him.damdami
taksal and other sants have their own translation.i debated with taksali's
on the other forum.they refused to beleive that translation of pro sahib singh is the best.they say you are wrong we are right.

The "problem" is not the translations or which one you beleive to be "better". You see it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to even TWIST and TURN a Gurbani panktee to "prove" that GURU JI is SEXIST and BANS Women in any way. Even if they take "way out meanings"""...that still cannot happen BECAUSE GURBANI is so explicitly CLEAR on this point. "a litle "GREY" may be called "BLACK" by some...BUT "SNOW WHITE" ?? How to make this "grey" ?? NO WAY...UNLESS YOU wear DARK GLASSES. This is what these people DO..THEY WEAR DARK GREEN GLASSES..and then claim ..everything is GREEN !!! Once they take off these sunglasses ..everything will clear up.

I have the Faridkotee Teeka, The Manmohan Singh Teeka, The Prof sahib singh teeka, the Prof Harbans Singh teeka, the Bhai Veer Singh teeka..ALL Say the SAME THING..SO KIO MANDA AKHIYEAH JIT JAMMEH RAJAAN...it is SNOW WHITE...impossible to make it GREEN.

IN Gurbani Guru nanak Ji says very clearly... IT is WRONG to call them "BLIND"..those that GOD has made born without eyes, defect in cornea, disease in eye etc...THEY are NOT "BLIND" per se. The REALLY BLIND ones are those that HAVE PERFECT 20/20 VISION....BUT REFUSE TO SEE !!!

The GURU KHALSA PANTH has been EMPOWERED by GURU JI to see 20/20 vision....DONT let these Saun de anneh PUJAREE DERAWALLAHS..put on their GREEN SUN GLASSES on YOU...It is time to take things in our own HANDS.
