Akshay Kumar said that in the film, he does not preach Sikhism but the film gives a message about positive attitude. With positive attitude and largeheartedness, everybody can become a king, he said. He said the idea of the title struck him when he saw Singh is King printed in bold on the back of a Sardarji's truck in Jaipur.
