FATEHGARH SAHIB: A Pak resident Rana Yasin Ahmad Khan, finally, after 54 years of partition of India, on Sunday located his separated sister Mukhtiar Kaur in village Barwali Khurd of Fatehgarh Sahib district in Punjab.
He had earlier visited India twice but couldn't meet her sister for reasons beyond his control. His only regret is that his mother Sukhra Bibi who was known as Dalip Kaur in his Indian house had died with desire to meet her daughter.
Rana had last came to india around three years ago but returned disppointed as he could not meet his family members at village Barwali Khurd and real sister Mukhtiar Kaur at village Bhari near Khanna where she was married. At that time his sister and other relatives had refused to recognise Rana since they had no information of Mukhtiar Kaur having any brother. Rana had taken birth on March 15,1947 in a transit camp at Jalandhar, where his mother was kept before shifting to Pakistan.

The however unfolded whne the fact came to light that Rana's father Ugar Singh was a Punjabi Jat Sikh and he had married a Muslim girl Sukhra Bibi who was renamed Dalip Kaur. Though villagers tried to conceal her real identity for many years, the police however came to know the fact after six years of partition and forcibly shifter her to Pakistan when she was pregnant.
On the last visit, Rana onthe basis of information provided to by his late mother, hadreached at village Barwali Khurd and located his family members and even address of his sister Mukhtiar Kaur, who was married to a youth at village Bhari near Khanna. But when family couldn't recognise him he went back.

The siblings in India then started probing the Rana's claim and found that Rana is actually their blood. Now it was their turn to locate Rana in Pakitan. The search continued even as Mukhtiar Kaur fell sick waiting for his brother. Recently, the family got in tough with Rana and requested him to come to India. Rana arrived on 20 days Visa to see his family.
As Rana entered the village Barwali, the whole village came out to welcome him.He told the villagers that his mother till her last breath wanted to come back to India and she didn't remarry after reaching Islamabad.
Pargat Singh an elder of village Barwali Khurd while recalling Rana's father Ugar Singh's personality said that he was a brave man and all villagers always gave him due respect. He said that Ugar Singh was a hard working man while his wife was a house wife. Ugar Singh had special bond with his daughter Mukhtiar Kaur.
Rana said her mother later compelled him to shift Gujjranwala in Pakistan. Rana is presently living in Gujjarwala town of Pakistan with his family.
Sunday turned out to be unforgetable day for Rana even though Rana's tale has no mention in the history and bearing on those had written the history. Rana celbrated his sister's birthday which also happened to be the day of reunion.
