Sacrilegious "Baba Sarup Sinh" set to be Summoned
Wednesday 28th of February 2007
Panthic Weekly News Bureau
Amritsar Sahib (KP) - Months after various Sikh organizations from Punjab and throughout Europe made pleas with Akal Takht Sahib and the SGPC to inspect 108 saroops of Guru Granth Sahib that were set to be cremated by Nakli "Baba" Sarup Singh, the Jathedars have finally shown a little initiative in dealing with this sacrilegious publicity stunt.

Evidently Sarup Sinh, just like many of his fraudulent counterparts in the fake baba business, has no problem committing sacrilege to Guru Granth Sahib Ji in order to fill his own pocketbook. The self proclaimed sant is intent on cremating 108 saroops of Guru Granth Sahib as a means of building his "Sant" image. Its interesting to note that the number 108 is considered a divine number in Hindu Vedic folk lore and Saroop Sinh just like the rest of today's pseudo babay thinks this might just be his lucky number to hit it big in the 'baba' business.

Appeals to have Sarup Sinh summoned at Akal Takht Sahib for his sacrilegious actions have been submitted to Jathedar Vedanti's personal assistant. A Sikh delegation from Italy that has largely opposed the cremation of these saroops of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, told the press that they are confident and hopeful that Saroop Sinh will be summoned to Akal Takht Sahib for punishment.

Sikh organizations brought this matter to the attention of Jathedar Vedanti many months back, however the Jathedar and the other Sikh leadership were apathetic to the issue at first. The delegates from various organizations were diligent and complained that most of the saroops that the nakli baba transferred from Italy to Punjab are actually in perfect condition, and that needlessly cremating them for a publicity stunt is highly sacrilegious and unethical. According to a hukumnama issued from Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, a saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji is only to be cremated if it is in extremely aged condition.

A five-member committee, consisting of SGPC members was recently assembled and given the responsibility of managing the inspection process of Guru Granth Sahib's saroops. The inspection process was carried out at Gurdwara Diwan Asthan, Central Town Jallandhar, where all saroops in the vicinity which were set to be cremated by Saroop Sinh were gathered for inspection. Out of the 108 saroops, only 41 were in extreme aged condition; requiring cremation, while the rest were in perfect condition. Of the remaining sixty seven saroops, four were found in like-new condition, thirty-two had been previously used, but were still fit for parkash; while twenty-seven had minor repairable faults in the binding. One was handwritten, while two others were written in Hindi and Urdu; all of which were in perfect condition. There was also one saroop of Sri Dasam Granth which was also included amongst the 108 to be cremated; it too was in perfect condition.

After reviewing these investigation results, the SGPC refused to give a clean chit to Sarup Sinh and his 'Dashmesh Seva Sabha' to hold a Nagar Kirtan to take all of these saroops to Goindwal Sahib where their cremation was set to take place. It came as a great shock to many, that someone would be willing to commit such blatant sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib Ji in order to boost their reputation and to fill their pocketbooks.
Sikh leaders from throughout the disapora have asked the SGPC to form a permanent committee to supervise these serious issues pertaining to upholding the sanctity of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, as this has always been an integral role of the institution, which has unfortunately been neglected in the past years. They called on the Takhat Jathedars and the SGPC leadership to take strict action against those responsible for sacrilege against Guru Sahib.

In the name of seva, these fake sants continue to befool the vulnerable members of the Sangat throughout the globe. Saroop Sinh is but one name in a long list of frauds who steal money from the Sangat and profit off of the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. It's interesting to note that Sarup Sinh has close associations with rapist Maan Pehova. In a press statement, the Sikh delegation from Italy stated that many of the saroops that were taken to Punjab in form of a Nagar Kirtan were actually brought from Italy only a few years ago under the supervision of Saroop Sinh and Maan Pehova. At that time, both of these pseudo saadhs were on tour together in Italy collecting huge sums of money from the vulnerable Sangat to fill their pocketbooks in an unending story of sacrilege.
