Sikhism And Homosexuality

When Sikhism teaches that everyone is equal, and that the purpose of Sikh marriage is essentially Oneness - a couple coming together to make Waheguru the centre of their lives - then does the couple have to be heterosexual?

I recently had come across a brief article that said that Akal Takht wants to prevent same-sex marriages from being held in Gurdwaras. But this to me seems anti-Sikh. I don't think I have ever come across a shabad- albeit I definitely have not read all that much - that says anything about homosexuality. We have to see everyone as One......and preoccupying ourselves with who marries who, won't help us develop our connection with Waheguru.

Sikhs are supposed to uplift others, and strive for equality for all. So then why should same-sex marriage be banned?

I think the whole question within the realm of sikhi is irrelevant

I think no one can ever say homosexuality is right or wrong or natural or unnatural and hence those who have strong opinions about it are articulating prejudice..

I've always felt I seek the truth how does it even matter what my opinion is

Great way to put it. Unfortunately though, so many people are concerned with trying to control the lives of others, rather than improving themselves.

As long as no one is hurting anyone else, let people be. Let them love, marry, share intimacy with whoever they choose. Banning homosexuals from marriage to me is anti-Sikh. These so called leaders are twisting Sikhi into something it is not, trying to mimic western religions, and/or using Sikhi to support their own prejudices. All that truly matters in Sikhi is developing the soul, and helping others. Gender, who people marry, does not matter in the grand scheme.
