Okay has anyone seen the latest Star Wars film from disney have disney made a mess of Star Wars or is it up to the brilliance of the 1977 original and the next two or is down with the pre-quals view please

Joginder ji,

Guru Fateh.

I have known you since our time together @ Learning Zone. :)

I have only seen the first one, the original. I am not into science fiction although I watched the filming of Star Trek in London once and used to watch the show.

If I am not mistaken, I have read in an "interview" somewhere by George Lucas that he had based the main theme on Sikhi. I am not too sure about "the interview's" veracity though.

I saw the new film. I didn't like it. It was well put together. The acting was superb, especially from the newcomers. However, it didn't evoke any emotion. It was just too bland in my opinion. A cookie-cutter movie designed to appeal to the widest spectrum of audience. I don't hate them for that. It is, after all, how they make money. But it was just too Disney. I felt like I was watching a teenage coming-of-age drama. The juxtaposition of the new school vs the old school was also corny and overplayed, in my opinion.

I do find parallels between Star Wars and Sikh philosophy. The Jedi try to align themselves with the Hukam, while the Sith are motivated by the 5 thieves (lust, anger, greed, attachment, pride).
