Time is the most precious resource.
What's said cannot be unsaid. What's experienced cannot be un-experienced. What's past cannot be brought back.
But it can be learned from. With the toning of the lens of Perspective and the pen to carve your time, things can be done, appreciated and experienced positively all at once!
Happy New year!

“Study me as much as you like, you will not know me, for I differ in a hundred ways from what you see me to be. Put yourself behind my eyes and see me as I see myself, for I have chosen to dwell in a place you cannot see.” ~ Rumi -

A King with a defect in one eye & one leg asked all the painters to draw his beautiful portrait!
But no one was ready to draw, as how to show him beautiful with defects in one eye & a leg!
One painter however agreed and drew a classic one!
It was such a FANTASTIC picture that every one was surprised!
He painted the King aiming for a hunt, targeting with one eye closed & a leg bent for it!
Why can't we all paint others like this, 'hiding their weakness" & "highlighting their strengths"?
May we learn to hide other's weakness & bring their virtues to light..!!

I agree ! In fact, an incident springs to mind when one of our children whilst playing at his nursery got pushed by another child. Immediately my son's mother told him to go and push this child back. And, that is the philosophy I've lived with and that is what I promote.

It's a good ethic to promote because as a human being you've to defend and withstand push come shov situations. Singh is King for that very reason and not the Good Samaritan. Khalsa has this obligation therefore to defend the weak.

Guru Hargobind Rai imported martial arts for this very purpose - defence mechanism.

not quite sure what telling a child to go back and push the other child actually teaches them? is that self defence?

personally i would have asked my child what they think they should do in that situation...get the child to problem solve...it's amazing what kids at a young age come up with...often they end up playing together :) but obviously teaching them to remain calm and aware in a testing situation and ready to defend themselves if it becomes apparent it is your 'only' option...is a good life lesson :) real self defence

A Singh is someone who starts the journey to see God in all and God in everything including oneself, the Friend and the enemy.
Because God is in all, a Singh will try all available possible solutions to resolve a situation peacefully, and to defend oneself and others when all other options have been exhausted or no other option is available.

A Singh only defends against the Ego of the opponent, because the truth is only God exists in the friend and the enemy...it is the Ego that needs defeating, not the person...for the person is a drop of waheguru. Hence the treating of wounds of the opposition in the wars during our Guru Ji's times.

A Singh is to remain aware at all times of the surrounding and whilst others react in anger and revenge...the Singh remains focused on what needs doing and seeking a solution, looking at and listening to the environment around him and listening within with a clear mind waiting for the solution to manifest.

The purpose is not to defeat a supposed opponent, it is to awaken them...

To me that is a Singh...a True Singh

Chaz Singh

Cognitive development, particularly child psychology teaches that kids don't learn of adults and it's not innate; their own experience teaches them when the mind is ready. Psychological rationalism teaches that moral growth is like from caterpillar to a butterfly. We grow into our rationality as caterpillars grow into butterflies. If the caterpillar eats enough leaves it will grow wings, and likewise, if the child gets enough experience of queuing, turn taking, sharing and playground justice, it will become a moral creature, able to use its rational capacities to solve ever harder problems later in life. If Hargobind Rai hadn't taken the decision to retaliate against the mighty Mughals, India today, would've been an Islamic state.

Yes, Phen Ji Phen Ji where n when appropriate, otherwise protect human dignity and learn to stand up.

The rational behind the creation of Khalsa was to stand up to injustice, that is not to say, injustice should be repaid with injustice, but on evolutionary principles of fight n flight the former was favoured and as result a nation of warrior-saints plagued the planet to serve, protect, preserve and foster humanitarian principles. Example of which is United Nations.

Good night & Godbless
