Hi,

I'm lost and confused.

Being born into a Sikh family, growing up I was interested in Sikhism but never really bothered with it much.

But, recently... I've been getting this urge to educate myself properly about Sikhi and dwell into it further, which is one of the reasons why I decided to join this forum.

So, I plan to read the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, but I want to get some general knowledge on Sikhi, so I was just wondering if any members had any links to some websites/threads which would help me understand the foundations of Sikhi properly.

There's alot to cover and I feel that I can spend my entire life trying to understand/read it all and I feel as though that's something I can do, just need a push in the right direction [to some reliable sources].

I'd really appreciate it if you could help me with this.
If not, I suppose I can always google 'Sikhism' and see what comes up.

I think one of the main reasons I'm writing this thread is because I'm a bit unsure about where to start my quest to enlightenment [that's a bit cheesy I know, sorry].

Anyways,

Thank you for reading and I hope this made sense.

Enlighten Me.

Do you understand Panjabi?
This site has some excellent videos and audios
http://www.singhsabhacanada.com/

For a variety of translations of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji www.srigranth.org is good as you can display more than 1 simultaneously.

Re: Where to start?

Thank you so much Jasleen Ji for your help, sadly I cannot read Punjabi. At the moment I'm just interested with how Sikhi begun and about the Guru Jis once I've read up on that I think I'd move on to reading and trying to understand the Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

However, I would also like to add that the most important thing about Sikhi is what the Guru's taught us rather than their lives. There was a reason why the Guru's never commissioned official janamsakhi's or portraits! Tejwant Singh ji wrote a very thoughtful essay about this but I cannot find it at the moment. However, here are some others for consideration.
