as long as you admited that you were trying to sway him twards sikhi, i think we are on the same page.
the only problem i had was the way you worded your post, saying sikhi, besides others, is the only religion that tries to control the mind.
nanak set us free from external identies and told us to nurture the love between our soul and our creator. cast off worldly and external things such as the hindu thread.
so which guru do we follow?
that is what you believe. i believe anyone that judges others for not being a true sikh is infact, not a true sikh (my self included).
people take this caste system thing the wrong way. in our society, there is no caste system. jatts (eastern europians), thurkahs (russia/caucus mountians)...
