    Types Of Karas

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Yes, I have heard that it is usually a kirpan than is given to the groom. Yes, I have seen the gold karas, and I think it has to do with social status as much as anything; and that in itself may related to caste, which Sikhism does not recognize. At any...

    GGS Being Burnt

Wahe Guru Ji Ki Ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh! This kind of alteration has been done to almost all Holy Scriptures, including the Bible, Koran, and various others. The British first tried this in India when they held India as a colony. What is most interesting to note is that some of the...

    Thought Of The Moment!

Sat Nam, Ji! There is a similar view amongst the Native Americans. They say that each of us starts out this life with two wolves in our heart. There is an angry wolf, and there is a happy and joyful wolf. Which one you feed is what you become. Interesting, yes?

    Do You Wear Kara?

Sat Nam, Ji- No, one K is not more important than the other; I apologize if there was any misunderstanding. You are correct, one cannot carry the kirpan through the security gate. I do the same thing as you do regarding educating the individual doing the screening, and they have always been...

    Do You Wear Kara?

Wahe Guru Ji Ki Ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh I wear mine all the time. I also recommend that it never be taken off. Some friends ask me "Even when I go through Airport Checkpoints?" Yes, even when you go through those security checkpoints. Simply ask for a wand and a pat down, and they...

SIKH WOMEN: Bypassed By History But Why?

Wahe Guru Ji Ki Ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh Greetings everyone! You all have brought up good points. Yes, they should be addressed. This whole thing of women being under-represented in just about every arena you can think of is most interesting. In the U.S., yes, women have gained...

    Types Of Karas

Sat Nam, Ji- I have to say I agree with you. The kara is supposed to be the iron/steel, not gold, and I find myself wondering why the individual wearing a gold one is wearing one at all. Iron and steel are wonderful! But then, in many places of the world, gold is ridiculously highly valued.

What Are Your Views Of Gurbani-engraved Karas?

Good point, Ji! Thanks! Also, have been interested in how the different forms of karas have come about. Is there someone who could please direct me to historical books or other such sources? Thank you all

    General Sikhi And Creationism

Perhaps some worlds were created quickly, some slowly. Reading various books by authors such as Gregg Braden, Lynn McTaggert, Bruce Lipton might be interesting for you. Exploring Astronomy might be useful as well. The quick answer would be to follow what Guru Nanak said, "See God in All."

    Controversial The Gender Trap

The socialization of gender is in every society. Men do certain things; that is considered manly, and women do other things, and if those things get mixed up and men do women things and women do men things there is oftenly some sort of social censure. Sad. I know of a Sikh woman who knew she...

Online Porn Boom: Liberating Minds Or Damaging Brains?

Sat Nam, everyone! Here is something to very seriously consider. Sixty-one per cent of all internet searches are for porn. 61%. That is a very high number, and that is disturbing. Additionally, many viruses are connected with these porn sites. Additionally, more and more porn is violence...

What Are Your Views Of Gurbani-engraved Karas?

Wahe Guru Ji Ki Ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh Greetings, everyone. I believe that the intent of those who wear such karas is overall a good one; to be reminded of the Guru's word each time one looks at the kara one is wearing, and to feel the happiness and affection one feels whenever one...

    Types Of Karas

Wahe Guru Ji Ki Ka Khalsa, wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh Greetings, everyone, I have a question. There are now different designs of the kara; I have seen some that are ridge, some that are smooth, and I have been wondering how the different forms of karas have come about. A friend gave me one that is...

Akal Takhat Says No To Kirtan Sewa By Women At Darbar Sahib

Wahe Guru Ji Ki Ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh! Greetings, all! Excellent question! Why did God send Jesus as a male? And Siddartha the Bhudda? And Abraham? and that guy Mohammed? Why all these guys? I had been wondering that for quite some time, and then the reason finally occurred...
