When Yogi Bhajan first came to Malaysia with his White Sikhs Kirtan Group, their performance swept me from under my feet. They were singing Jaap Sahib beautifully.

This memory has become a good icon to reflect upon. And Yogi Bhajan's out-spoken style became the talk of the town, so to speak. He left a mesmerizing impact in the minds of Malaysian Sikhs. Ever since then, many Malaysian Sikh women have started to wear Dastars and it really suits them.

Chardi Kala Jatha are second generation of Sikhs. I'm talking about First Generation Sikhs who came to Malaysia in 1980/81 period. The tabla player wasn't white sikh. Young guy (about 20 yrs old) who played tabla endlessly for hours.
