Nice-looking portrait Singh ji.

Would you please write more about who Lady Fatima is/was, and who are those two kids. Is there any significance of portrait in this particular pose (with backside) only? Just for the benefit of ignorants of my category.

Fatima was daughter of prophet mohammad and married to imam ali ,the first shia imam. Shia muslims hold her in high esteem.

Thanks truth_seeker.

So the statements are:
1. Lady Fatima was daughter of prophet Mohammad.
Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=395
Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=395
2. Lady Fatima's husband was Imam Ali.
3. Imam Ali was the first shia imam.

Is this portrait done by Imam Ali himself for his wife? This portrait must be very old one then. As you pointed out that this is not creation of Mahmoud Farshchian, an Iraninan artist. Or is this something like - old portrait existed, and Mahmoud Farshchian painted it again, with some modern outlook or colors? I believe you know more about this portrait. Do share that.

Best Regards.

This pic is from the artists imagination. Imam Ali did not paint, in fact there are some narrated traditions that he was against images.

The reasons that not even the children's faces are fully seen, is probably an effect of the Muslim reluctance to depict people and animals.
