Exactly.

My work place talks about Sikhs with great reverence. Why, because I try and inform themof what we are about, everytime they ask, without sounding all preachy......

Attraction rathe than conversion...

Re: Do We Have a Moral Duty to Bring Others to Our Faith?

a few yeras ago in the BOSNIAN CONFLICT there were some SIKHS in the Malaysian Army contingent posted there to keep the peace. These Sikhs met up with soem Khalsa Aid Guys and they used to provide Guru ka Langgar, blankets, etc etc to mainly Muslim refugees. After quite soem time..the "Bosnians" began to ask the Sikh Volunteers...WE GIVE UP....WHEN ARE YOU PEOPLE GOING TO BRING OUT YOUR LITTLE "bibles" or whatever you clal them and start to tell us How Much YOUR God loves US..blah blah blah... Normally the Christians begin that as soon as just a day or so after they feed us/give us blankets..BUT you guys never mentioned any such thing and is ben 6 months already...?? The Khalsa Aid Sikhs told them..WE NEVER do that...and at the end of the duty my friend who came back from Bosnia said 19 bosnian teenage girls became singghaniah VOLUNTARILY and were sent to live with Sikh Families in Greece and other European countries.

Re: Do We Have a Moral Duty to Bring Others to Our Faith?

When I was younger I had a huge love of Amar Chitra Katha comics, especially the ones about sikhism. My absolute favourite was Banda Singh Bahadur ji. I have a vivid memory of a scene with the caption, 'Banda rode through towns and villages spreading Guru Gobind Singh ji's message', the scene depicted Bandaji on a white horse, whilst one of his sikhs read out the 'message', I remember at the time thinking, what was this message?

Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/interfaith-dialogues/36654-do-we-have-moral-duty-bring.html
In the bubble caption was the 'message',

It went something like

If there is anyone who is in any trouble or grief, if you have any problems, with anything, let us know, and we will help, whether you are Hindu or Muslim, we are here to assist and help
Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=36654

I remember thinking at the time, thats not a message, I mean, what is so important about that message? Its hardly the answer to the meaning of life, and now, nearly 30 years later, I find that message encapsulates sikhi completely

Re: Do We Have a Moral Duty to Bring Others to Our Faith?

We must tell people about Skhism with respect to all religions. If we have to bring somebody to Skhism then yes we must "convert" the people who say that they are born Sikhs.

Re: Do We Have a Moral Duty to Bring Others to Our Faith?

hahaha very good point, whats the point of bringing more into sikhism, maybe we should concentrate on ridding our religion of the pointless abrahamic and verdic elements that have crept in. I have nothing against either religion, but if you want an abrahamic god, be a Christian, if you want a Hindu god, be a Hindu, if you can reconcile yourself to a force, an energy, knowledge and information, rather than ritual and jingles, be a sikh
