Throwing more hardware beyond a properly running 100 base T network will
generally not help.
However, ensuring you have a proper setup for multi-user will make a big
difference.
You should have a split system, so, get that right....

The above will not fix your performance, but it will increase reliability by
a large amount.
To fix performance, try the persistent connection trick...9 out of 10 times,
this will solve your speed problems
