date that I put in through a pop up. However, when I open the Excel file- Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/information-technology/9475-exporting-dates-to-excel-from-access.html
all the data except the date has exported over. When I run it in Access,
(not exporting) it works fine.
Any Ideas?

How is the popup generated?

The tablè?
What about creating a query that contains a parameter of type Date/Time
(MyDate) whose value is contained in the select list ([MyDate])?
Define the parameter via the "query, parameters" menu command. Reference:: Sikh Philosophy Network http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/showthread.php?t=9475
Then export the query instead of the table.
