I need to make a "box" that will allow me to type in some paragraphs and
other data which involves some carriage returns. The user will never change
the data - it will be read-only.

I tried to do this with a "label" but when I enter the label data and hit
"enter" it does not go to the next line. Should I continue using a label

and alter it somehow? Or is there another control I should use?

Use Ctrl+Enter to force a new line in a control.

In a text box, you can set the EnterKeyBehavior property (Other tab of the
Properties box.)
