master.mdb password

I have what i think is a zipped file called "master.mdb". As i recently
managed to lose my access file on a reprogram i wanted to know if this is a
copy (its approx. 500kb) if i try to open it it requests a password?

I have never set a password for access so am lost

Is it looking for the password for the zipped file before you can uncompress
it, or have you successfully uncompressed the file, and Access is prompted
for a password when you try to open the uncompressed file?

If the latter, it's possible that the database has been corrupted (opening
MDB files in Word, for instance, will do this)
