Secure database on my company website?

I am trying to find out if it is possible to have a secure contacts database

on my company website that only employees with a password could access? We
all work remotely so it would be really useful to be able to share
information in this way. Also we would like the database for other functions
such as invoicing and letters. Thanks for your help.
