How do I archieve database file to decrease the size of the file

Access data base. I need to purge some old data to make the file smaller. I
delete file entries in the tables but that does not decrease the size of the

Access does not restore deleted file space until after you also
compact the database.
Click on Tools + Database Utilities + Compact and Repair database

I realize you've already deleted the data but why even bother? Leave
it around for comparison or reporting purposes.
