Hi Folks,

I just created a new database in Access 2003 and when I went to make an MDE
file for the users I got the following error message.

You cannot create a MDE file from a database saved in 2000 format.
Convert the database to the current version. Then create the ADE or MDE
file.

I have no idea why when creating a new database in Access 2003 it uses the

Access 2000 format, but how do I now convert this database to the Access
2003 format so I can create the MDE file? I created the backend also in 2000

format without realizing it and I have it connected to a secure workgroup.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Access 2000 format is set as the default when you create a new
database. To change it:
Tools + Options + Advanced

To convert an existing database:
Tools + Database Utilities + Convert Database

Then make your MDE.

Fred,

Thanks, I totally forgot I could do this in Access from the Tools menu. I've

changed the default format to now be Access 2002-2003 for all new databases.
I really appreciate your quick response and help with this. Take care.
