Linking Text File : Error : "Record Too Large"

Hi ,

I was trying to link a text file that has a record of almost 250 fields
of text data type and all these fields add upto a record of size 3000.

When I ran the Link Text Wizard I am getting an error saying the
"Record is too large".
I was wondering isn't that possible to link a text file with record
size 3000?

I haven't tested this - I don't have a suitable text file to use for
testing - but according to the 'Access Specifications' topic in the help
files ...


Number of characters in a record (excluding Memo and OLE Object fields) when

the UnicodeCompression property of the fields is set to Yes: 4,000


I would imagine that the JET database engine probably can't use Unicode
Compression with a linked text file, as the data is not actually being
stored by JET, so it may not be possible to link the file, but you may be
able to import it.
