Book Disrespect of Granth Sahib as Murder: Akal Takht

The Indian law already recognises Guru Granth Sahib as a living 'party' or a 'person', and in turn, also validates the Sikh form of respect for their Guru. The ultimate aim of this discussion is not to stretch the case of disrepect of Guru Granth Sahib 'far away' but to prevent the disrespect. That must be applicable for every religious book, may it be the Bible, Quran, Zend Avesta or any else.

The bottom line is, the disrespect of religious books/symbols/worship places should be prevented, which is so essential to a pluralist society. The need is not for any more laws, but efficient implementation of the existing ones, unbiased and transparent.

In India we have plenty of laws but the implementation is so poor that you can hardly expect timely justice .All agree to the fact that jusitce delayed is justice denied so we have learnt to be satisfied with the present system of justice in India.For the past 60 years what we have been witnessing justice or unjustice we can search this within ourselves.

Do the Christians "need" the US Congress or the British Parliament to pass a LAW stating that "YES..Jesus is THE Son of God"..or that YES..the Bible is the Word of God...?
Did the Muslim Wolrd get a Law passed by the Saudi Govt to declare that YES..Muhammed is their Prophet and Koran is the word of Allah ??

NO...sensible people DONT..BUT SIKHS...are not sensible people..we just LOVE to have OTHERS tell us what the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is..what defines a SIKH..what type of Sikh can vote in which elections etc etc etc....and then they cry that so and so ghonas monas muslims etc voted in their elections...so and so Justice of the Supreme Court declared this and that about Sikhism..blah

I appreciate the views expressed by Giyani Jarnail Singh ji.But we should also consider a fact that we compete our practces with Hindu practices.Since Hindu deities are treated as separate legal entity so how can we avoid this for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.We disclaim to be Hindu but do not hesitate in adopting Hindu practices for our own interest.A matter of convenience after all matters a lot.
