Sikh leader booked for raising pro-Khalistan slogans


Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar president Simranjit Singh Mann has yet again been booked under sedition charges for allegedly raising pro-Khalistan slogans.

It is not the first time that the two times former MP was booked for raising slogans in favour of Khalistan.

Earlier, he had faced 80 cases in different places of Punjab and outside the state for Khalistan-related activities. Only two cases -- one in Amritsar and another in Patiala --now remains pending against him.

Mann was booked under Section 124 A (sedition) of IPC as two days back he had raised pro-Khalistan slogans and instigated Sikh devotees inside the Golden Temple to raise their voice in favour of the separate Sikh state.

He has hit back at the police, saying they have no jurisdiction to register case against him as whatever happened inside the Golden Temple does not come their purview.

Only Jatehdar (Sikh high priest) of Akal Takht (the highest Sikh temporal seat) was empowered to summon him as per the Sikh rituals, he said.

Mann said that he had been elected twice as MP for advocating the issue of a separate Sikh homeland. He would continue to carry his mission in future.

He, however, said police was free to arrest him anytime.

Bhindranwale also had similar ideas and had to meet his fate. This is not acceptable. G olden Temple is not a separate country. yes Police/ Army would not enter UNLESS the situation goes out of hand and people start misusing the facility.
I agree that many many things were wrong but it does not make other wrongs right.
There were all young generation being arrested/jailed/ tortured/killed but people were living inside Golden Temple in relative safety!

ballym ji I think too many like you have been brain washed by Indian manipulations.

Define democracy for me,

• You can't chant a slogan
  • Wow freedom of speech!
• Your Religious places are not a place for private discourse on whatever topic or however
  • Wow that is freedom of religion!
  • Note you got the following very backward. Only SGPC has authority over those premises and not the Government of India. SGPC has the right to ask for help if so determined including the conditions of such access.

I personally believe that the time to ask for Khalistan or more autonomous Sikh/Punjabi state has long past. The Punjabi Subah morchas of Master Tara Singh/Fateh Singh and the Khalistan mission under Jarnail Singh were too late and in hindsight only more damaging to what little is left of what Sikhs can call as mother land where Sikhs can be proud. The real time to do all this was around 1947 if not earlier.

See India as what it does and not what you dream of. Recognize Sikhs democratic aspirations and rights in the meantime if India is a democracy and what comes with a democracy. It will only help a democracy.
