NAWANSHAHR: Amardeep Singh Shergill Memorial College, Mukandpur is witnessing fervor activities these days with the celebration of birth anniversary of late Amardeep Singh Shergill as well as its foundation day under the four-day programme ‘Amardeep Mela-2010’.

Today the third day of this four-day fest was completely drenched with spiritual fervour simply for the reason that the obeisance was paid to the God Almighty by way of Bhog Ceremony of Shri Akhand Path of Shri Guru Granth Sahib, which commenced on 21st Dec., in the Gurudwara Sahib situated in the college campus. Subsequently, the college group shabad team spell bounded the audience enchanting pious notes from Gurbani.

Following this, Dr. Gurmit Singh from Punjabi University, Patiala talked at length on Sri Guru Granth Sahib, maintaining the Granth was not only a compilation of meditative verses but the semblance of philosophies and erudition through ages. He highlighted Guru Granth Sahib as propounding secular message within its ambience thoughts of various saints and philosophers along with the Gurus. Elaborating on the purport of the Guru, he vociferously emphasized its significance in dispelling darkness from one’s heart. He gainsaid the unethical dichotomy prevailing among peoples of the world, consequently creating fractions amongst human beings. He concluded his lecture with an appalling demand from humanity to follow the message of Sri Guru Granth Sahib which is common to all humanity sans caste, creed and cultures.

On 24 Dec. 2010 Mela would achieve its glorious heights with the organization of cultural and musical extravaganza. Dr. Inderjit Singh, Registrar, GNDU, Amritsar will be the chief guest. Dr. S.S.Johl, Ex – Vice Chancellor and renowned economist will preside over the function
